Fund Description

The Vanguard Dividend Growth Fund (VDIGX) is designed to provide investors with a steady income stream by investing in dividend stocks across various industries. The fund looks to pick out companies that have shown a strong commitment to their dividend payout as well as having the ability to grow the dividend in the future. In most cases, this turns out to be a large-cap company that is a well-known name. VDIGX focuses most of its 50 holdings on U.S. companies but it does reserve a portion of its assets for international exposure, making for some nice diversity. This fund would likely not be a core holding in a portfolio, but rather a great addition to an already diversified set of holdings. VDIGX will provide a steady income stream that should fit nicely on top of an existing portfolio.

The fund employs a relatively low expense ratio of 31 basis points and holds a minimum investment threshold of just $3,000, making it available to investors of all shapes and sizes. The fund is managed by Donald J. Kilbride, of Wellington Management Company LLP, who has worked in the investing industry for nearly two decades.
