International Mid-Cap Equity

International mid-cap equity funds and ETFs are funds that own stocks outside... International mid-cap equity funds and ETFs are funds that own stocks outside of the U.S. in the middle in terms of market capitalization. They usually invest most of their assets in companies with market caps of $3 to $10 billion. However, some funds own a mix of small, mid, and large cap stocks but overall have a mid-cap profile. These funds may be geographically diversified, owning stocks in North America, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Australasia. These funds may own stocks in both developed and developing markets. They also can be actively managed or indexed and may pursue various strategies to achieve returns. For example, a mid cap manager may prioritize value over growth, or vice versa. International mid-cap funds can invest in a wide range of sectors. However, the most popular sectors are financial services, information technology, and producer manufacturing. Some investors gravitate to mid caps because they have higher potential than large caps but less risk than small caps. Mid-cap companies are typically large enough that they’ve already achieved profitability, but may still be able to grow their revenues and earnings significantly. International mid-cap equity funds and ETFs may be appropriate for more aggressive investors who seek returns that are higher than the market average. Among these funds, those with more diversified portfolios are usually a safer bet than those which concentrate their holdings in fewer stocks. It’s important to note that International Mid-Cap funds also usually come with currency risk (and potential reward) for investors. Last Updated: 03/19/2024 View more View less
