These funds can be actively or passively managed and may seek to track or outperform a particular benchmark. They may hedge foreign currency risk, or elect to leave themselves exposed to fluctuations in the Thai Baht. Depending on their mandate, these funds may focus on investment-grade bonds, high-yield (a.k.a. junk bonds), or a mix of credit quality. As of November 2023, the Thai government had issued around US$277 billion in bonds. Investors can purchase these funds for both capital growth and income. The country is a growing emerging market economy, and these investments often offer much higher yields than developed market bonds. Since they are not seen as conservative investments, they are only appropriate for more aggressive investors. Last Updated: 12/27/2024 View more View less
